Northern Fishing School
The Northern Fishing School, has a team of certified fly fishing guides and instructors and provides an extensive selection of fly fishing activities. Designed to accommodate everyone from novices and seasoned anglers to businesses in search of a unique corporate outing, our programs also cater to all age groups, including engaging sessions for school children.
Unique location and facilities
Located on the picturesque Swinton Estate in North Yorkshire, the school boasts a diverse array of fishing locations. Our expansive grounds encompass a casting tuition lake, Leighton Reservoir, and the Swinton River Ure and River Burn beats. As part of the 20,000-acre estate, we also offer access to the Swinton Park Hotel, Swinton Bivouac, and Swinton Country Club & Spa.
The vision behind the school
Marina Gibson, the founder of the school in 2019, aspires to expose as many individuals as possible to the enchanting world of fishing. She believes it to be a fun, affordable stress-reliever and an ideal escape from the daily grind, regardless of the participant's age.
Our mission
The school is on a mission to democratize the sport of fishing and promote it as a wholesome and inclusive activity. We believe that fishing presents an opportunity to step away from technology, embrace the outdoors, and disrupt the monotony of everyday life. Our fishing days are immersive experiences, from the initial trip planning to recounting the day's adventures. It's a perfect family activity - children can quickly learn to fish while also gaining a profound appreciation for our ecosystems.
