Fly Fishing for Atlantic Mackerel
Atlantic Mackerel
Scomber scombrus

Where you can find Atlantic Mackerel
On this map you see where there were observations of Atlantic Mackerel around the world, to give you an idea in which continents, countries and waters you can find this fish species.
"One of the hardest fighting fish for its size. If you run into a shoal (which are often massive) that's on a feeding frenzy, you're in for a treat.
Mackrel hunt in very large shoals and they will patrol the coastline, near drop offs into deeper water. It's a fish that you have to spot, and once they're there you'll know. There will be baitfish fleeing and jumping everywhere and at that point you can throw almost any fly in and they'll take it. Because they're a very muscular fish they fight hard so be prepared: a 7 weight rod at minimum."
