Flytastic
Switzerland 🇨🇭
From an early age, I was drawn to fishing, tying complex knots blindfolded and trying my hand at fly fishing at the age of 14. Despite navigating secondary school and apprenticing as a chef in Appenzell, my passion for fishing never wavered. After my culinary career, I found joy in bartending and interacting with people. This period also marked the beginning of a significant personal search.
The crossroads of passion and profession
In 2015, equipped with a vocational high school diploma and a culinary apprenticeship, I ventured into hotel management studies. A transformative summer internship in 2017 in Canada, where I worked as a "Lodge Assistant Manager" at a fishing lodge, further ingrained my love for fishing. Back in Switzerland, I was faced with the daunting question of my future career path, leaving me with increasing doubts about my studies.
Embracing the call of the wild
The completion of my studies in spring 2020, coupled with the COVID-19 lockdown, provided me with ample time to immerse myself in my passion - fly fishing. I recognized my desire to not only fish but also share my knowledge and enthusiasm. I decided to guide others into nature, showcasing my cooking skills and creating memorable experiences. This led me to launch FLYTASTIC, a free website where I shared my experiences and insights.
Turning passion into profession
In the summer of 2021, I embraced my passion and made FLYTASTIC part of my professional life. During workshops, I share my skills in fly fishing, my knowledge about the water, and my respect for nature. I believe I can inspire fellow fly fishers, bringing joy to their experiences. It's time to do what I love – fly fishing.
